We are delighted with the news coverage of the Nomadic UK Charity Christmas Ad Competition on BBC Radio Gloucestershire!
Go Gloucestershire Nightstop!
Nomadic UK champion working in the heart of the community that supports them. We firmly believe in giving something back. That’s why we’re partners with Pride in Gloucestershire.
This is also the reason why we launched the Nomadic UK Charity Christmas Ad Competition in 2023.
Christmas is the season of good will
If you’ve missed this story, luckily it’s all over social media. This is great news for the charity in terms of spreading their reach. It also means that you can catch up on either Gloucestershire Nightstop’s social media pages, or on Nomadic UK’s social media profiles.
You can check out our previous blogs explaining our reasoning behind this competition here.
But in a nutshell, it’s because we want to make a meaningful difference for one particular charity. Many of them are working to tight budgets, which often see marketing and video content falling to the wayside. This is where we, as video production experts, can help!
The winning charity was decided by an impartial judging panel of Gloucestershire-based charity and marketing experts. Once the news of the winner had been announced, Amy invited the charity into Nomadic HQ.
Tom and Amy, co-founders of Nomadic UK, kicked off the discovery meeting by verbally talking Michelle Lavis through the concepts that they had been working on.
We were delighted by Michelle Lavis’ enthusiasm and optimism about the win. We were also moved be her faith in the impact that a Christmas Ad will have for Gloucestershire Nightstop.
The Christmas Ad tagline is ‘Will you open your doors this Christmas?’
After that, Tom and Amy both created storyboards of the concepts that they had come up with. Then they emailed the storyboards to Michelle for her to review with the rest of the team at Gloucestershire Nightstop .
After that, we had to wait for the results to come in once more! Would it be Team Amy or Team Tom for the winning Christmas Ad concept?!
Who will it be?
That’s right! It was Team Tom that scooped the prize of being voted as Gloucestershire Nightstop’s winning Christmas Ad Concept. You can check out both of the storyboarded concepts that were submitted for the charity to review.
Tom created his with ChatGPT’s AI image creator function. Whereas Amy created hers by using Google Image and searching for relevant key words. She uses a lot of royalty free stock image sites. However, like Tom, Amy is also increasingly reliant on ChatGPT to help her create her storyboards.
Team Tom for the win!

After that, the next step was to find the people to feature in the video. Michelle Lavis handled this. She reached out to real hosts who work in the charity to appear in the advert. She also appealed to members of staff and friends and family to be the young people in need of a room for the night.
The winning Christmas Ad was filmed in genuine hosts’ homes who help young people get off the streets for a night
After that, with the filming date in everyone’s diary, it was time to plan the shoot. The locations were dotted across Gloucester and Tewkesbury, meaning we would get a great range of content with a selection of different homes. However, this all meant it required some careful consideration with regards to planning the shoot and creating the call sheet.
To help boost Gloucestershire Nightstop’s reach in further, Nomadic UK are also assisting them in publicising the Ad. As a result, Amy reached out to multiple press to try to get the news covered. Gloucestershire Nightstop eventually heard back from Jon Smith at BBC Radio Gloucestershire wanting to interview her for the Breakfast show.
As you’ll find out if you watch the video above, they’ve invited Gloucestershire Nightstop to get back in touch with them when the video has been signed off!
Cameras, Lights, Action!
