FURNITURE VILLAGE – VIDEO PRODUCTION

LIVINGPROOF SOFA LAUNCH VIDEO

NOTES

Shoot – Furniture Village Video Production – Firstly, working in super slow motion is one of those shoots we get every now and then, and it causes everyone on set to stand still in amazement. The beauty of watching time unfold 40-80 times slower is a visual experience everyone needs to film and see.

LivingProof is a fabric range that is designed to be LivingProof (stain proof, and really easy to clean), so this was a fantastic project to be involved in due to the creative potential of lobbing all sorts of messy items at the Furniture Village sofa.

Finally a fabric sofa that can survive family life!

What was the project – Launch video for Furniture Village  – Introducing their first stain proof sofa range, ideal for busy family life. Protected by Living Proof’s easy clean technology.

What did we do? – Nomadic teamed up with our friends at Cool Blue from the early stages, taking the idea of a food fight to a whole new level. In the era of show not tell, and with the restriction of no model agreement, we simulated the “oh S*** moment” to a new level. That moment when you spill a glass of wine, time slows down, you move to grab it and… It’s too late. Bringing this brief to life in slow motion required two things, one was a heavy duty £120,000 slow motion camera. Secondly was some huge lights. After testing in the pre-production, we settled on filming this at 40 times slower than real life. This created two challenges, one was finding a camera that could film in these speeds and secondly was getting 40x more light on set. The camera was Phantom Flex’s 4k cinema beast, used on every Hollywood film where stunning slow motion is required, including including Sherlock, Iron Man and Gardians of the galaxy. Then we consulted with lighting extraordinaire Owen, we dragged him away from the set of The Crown for this shoot and the result, we had the lighting power we needed to pull off this striking campaign.

Crew size – Director, Client Director, Head Stylist, Camera operator, Gaffer, Assistant, Production support, On site editor, Account Manager

Location – Jet Studios, London

Where did the video go – Client Website, Email Marketing, Facebook, Instagram, Paid Media Ad, Pinterest, Pre Roll Ad, Snapchat, Social, YouTube

Result – Launched a brand new category in an extremely competitive market.

Standout moment from the shoot – The fun of shooting food falling onto a sofa is… Whilst the camera was very well protected, the crew… not so much. Getting the food dropping “just right” on camera was the thing that took the most playing with and occasionally, several takes to get the perfect shot. Owen’s rage throwing of the cake at the sofa, which ended up being the perfect shot, was not just entertaining but the perfect shot that made it in!
